Black Line Horizon is a cautionary painting about the pursuit of development at the expense of faith and natural beauty. The line is an imagined freeway cutting through Walyabup, a Nyoongar sacred site synonymous with Bibra Lake and the surrounding Beeliar Wetlands. The State Government seeks to put a freeway straight through the middle of the area, despite intense local opposition and the status of the area as a place of profound religious importance.
