Matronae is a Latin word meaning the Three Fates, otherwise known as The Norns or the Triple Goddess. The word associations of matrons and matrimony are appropriate as the painting addresses what-might-have-beens and the fragility of relationships and even life itself. All things exist in a cycle and a cycle must continue or it stagnates.
